TIFS condemns and opposes all racist expressions, actions, and policies. Through TIFS’ work, we apply seven shared principles of renewability, resilience, equity, diversity, healthfulness, inclusion, and interconnectedness. These principles guide us to help shape a common vision of a just and sustainable future of food, express our values, and encompass the changes we want to make.
TIFS believes in the continued and heightened urgency of transforming global food systems, which includes necessary transformations of the institutions of finance and capital to achieve equity and justice in our food systems.
The TIFS Learning Community met in June 2020 to discuss issues related to the need to shift power imbalances in investing, to strengthen TIFS’ work on racial equity and other rights-based issues, and to explore models for decentralization of investments and democratization of investment decisions. Inspired by these conversations, TIFS will:
-
Seek partnership and act as allies to people and organizations who are leading the work necessary to change systems (e.g., Justice Funders; Movement Generation; 1000 Currents; Ujima; and Boston Impact Initiative).
-
Continually improve TIFS’ governance to reflect our values and principles, including issues regarding power, equity, and rights.
-
Intentionally seek out diverse partners to co-develop and integrate power, equity and rights issues in our programs to promote appropriate financial solutions that accelerate positive changes in food systems.
We want to be held accountable. Please continue to reach out to us with feedback.
