Conversations about Investing in Food Systems Transformation: SeedLinked

rex.r.raimondnews

On 13 December 2023, we spoke with Nicolas Enjalbert (Co-founder and CEO, SeedLinked), Jill Enos (Managing Director, TitletownTech), and Michael Washburn (Seed Preservation Director, Seed Savers Exchange) about collaborative seed improvement and seed sharing and their contribution to regenerative and agroecological production systems.

SeedLinked is a web platform that helps growers identify what specialty crop varieties are best for their conditions. SeedLinked connects small and medium-sized farms and plant breeders around the world to accelerate the transition to more diverse food production systems.

The webinar recording (here) and slide deck (here) are available.

Biodiversity in seed systems is key to climate resilience, nutrition and dietary health, cultural and culinary diversity, and strengthening local economies. However, 1 in 5 of the world’s plant species is at risk of extinction and hundreds of thousands of farmers’ plant varieties have been substituted by a small number of modern, highly uniform commercial varieties (for more information, see Resilient Seed Systems Shared Action Framework). SeedLinked connects crop stewards and breeders to reverse these trends.
